Moroccan Sand Dollar Fossil
Regular price
$12.00

A fossil sand dollar is the hard, white skeleton (called a test) of an ancient, flattened sea urchin, characterized by a distinct five-pointed star pattern (petaloids) from its internal respiratory organs and often found embedded in rock or as a smooth, chalky disc. While live ones are fuzzy, purple, and spiny, the fossil shows its calcium carbonate structure, often with a glassy texture, revealing the pentameral symmetry of these echinoderms that lived in shallow seas millions of years ago.
Origin: Morocco.
Size: Approx. 4cm in diameter.
Price is for one fossil, as these are a natural product the size and colours may vary.
